- Our mission

Lost Penny Press hopes to release two original songs per year, recorded in alive, full band format, in our venue space.

Songs will be presented with ancillary material including video of recording session, lyrics, artwork. Each release will be digitally available to the musicians as a calling card to send to booking agents and venues, and industry professionals. It will also be produced as a flash drive to sell at events, shows, and literary festivals. Each release will be supported with a launch party where the band will be given a full show in our venue space.

- We're looking for

New music that makes our breath catch in our chest.

Music made by hand, with a focus on musicianship, and knowing your craft. Surprise us, take us to places we have never been, give us cross overs and connections we have never imagined. We are open to all genres and sounds. Searching for songs from the deep well, songs that speak to the identity of your band and your sound. Perhaps not the best pathway for rap or intense hip hop, but we love to be surprised and challenged. Mostly be original, be yourself, and be skilled at what you do, whatever that may be. We can’t wait to hear the magic of the sounds you make.

- Submissions

Submissions for Lost Penny Press Music are currently closed. We will open again midsummer. Please check back again often for dates and information.

- Songs

Songs should be between two and a half and five minutes, and be original work that has not been released on streaming platforms or other music publishing platforms.

- How we decide

We listen blind, literally, with our headphones on and our eyes coddled in a silk sleep mask in a darkened room. Please be sure there is no identifying information in your recorded submission. Not a good time to introduce the girls in the band.

- If you are chosen

Two songs will be chosen per year. Selected songs will be recorded live in our acoustically engineered professional venue. A file will be created with the recorded song, video from the recording session, lyrics and artwork, and other ancillary material, and made available to the band for their personal and professional use. In addition a limited number of flash drives will be created, 25 copies given to the band, and 25 copies for Lost Penny Press to be sold at shows and shared with fans. Each selected band will be supported with a launch party in our venue space, with expert sound engineering and video projections available. At this time there is no monetary prize or payment for selected songs. But the future is infinite and hope is a thing with feathers.
